I've recently purchased a 1500. The master and slave cylinders on the clutch have been renewed but the clutch freed only when putting a dent in the
floor.
Now it won't even free. The slave is alloy rather than iron but I am assured that they are compatible. The previous owner tells me that he renewed the
clutch when fitting a '40,000 miles only' gearbox. The ' box worked well.
Latest sugestion is that the release bearing is wrong.
Any helpful sugestions will be welcomed as I am in the process of taking out the gearbox.
Incidentally, the previous owner didn't believe in washers!

Unlikely the release bearing is wrong, or that it would have so much effect. Do check the master cylinder pushrod length as a lot of new ones are
supplied with the rod too short. Is the pedal sitting level with the brake pedal? It should be and if not it is probably the pushrod. Also check that
the mounting bracket is not deformed as they do not have a stiffener like the brake one does. This can put the cylinder out of place and make the
pushrod bind.

Thanks Tim, I've already started to take out the box but if you could tell me what the master cylinder pushrod length should be, I will hold fire and
go down that, easier, route first.
