Hi,
I am looking to change my dashboard on my 1978 1550 for a Walnut Burr one, due to the fact that the old one has really deteriorated. Does anyone have any
useful advice on what and what NOT to do. I would also like to know where I can get new control knobs and light fittings for said dashboard.
I am really new to this and am learning as I go on. This is my first ever classic.

Hi Kean.
You have two basic choices: do it yourself or have it done professionally. If you DIY you must get all the old varnish off before you can put new
veneer on. Be warned, it is very tough stuff to get off! If you want it done professionally I recommend a company called Chapman and Clift. They
advertise in Triumph World and sometimes in the Courier. They will strip and burr-walnut your dash for around £135. This is a good time to
think if you want to change the dash layout: add an oil pressure gauge perhaps: get rid of the fag lighter and the seat belt light? By the way, C&C
also do a kit for around £60 if you want to have a go yourself. I did, but the old varnish defeated me and my sander, so they ended up
doing it for me. Photo attached.

Your dash is amazing Lindsay, really impressive. Thanks for the info, I am looking to change the dash for a new one, as it has really seen better
days, it is split and worn. Do you know if the GT6 dash fit in a Spitfire?
