Both doors on my 1500 make a double clunk noise when opening, shutting is noise free. It's a really nerve wrenching noise and I was wondering if anyone
knew what I might do to to prevent the problem, am I looking at a new part? If so is it an easy item to fit?

Most likely cause is the check strap which stops the door opening too far- assuming of course there is no obvious door to body contact causing this!
You could try disconnecting the check strap (in wind free conditions!) and open the door to see if it has gone away. If it that then a clean and grease
often helps, but if worn too much replacements are available and are not too dear.
