Hi All
Door hinges have got to be one of my most hated Spitfire parts, and the latest in a list of problems around them is that a second hand pair that were quite
firm when bought, have developed a lot of play in them now.
So basically I need to fix the 'bad adjustment/door dropped' problem again. I have been told that the reproduction hinges are a very bad fit, has anyone
got any thoughts/expierience on this?
Also, if anyone has any tips for improoveing the hinges and door adjustment in general I would much like to hear them.
I just want good closeing doors...
Thanks
Chris

The driver's door on my '79 1500 Spitfire had some play in it when lifted at the door catch end.
I bought a couple of hinges from Rimmers and found them to be ok. The problem with second hand ones is that you don't really know how much play there
is in them until you put them on a door and try them.
I supported the door with a jack and them tightened up the bolts.
Hope this helps.
