Bonnet catches

Hi,

Does anybody have any advice about how to deal with a bonnet catch that keeps popping up when driving? I hoped that by replacing the bonnet cones it may have cured it, the thinking being that they would fit better, no such luck.

So, is there any adjustment or is a new catch required?

  i will try oiling it,it is driving me nuts too! will have a look at the mentioned link too.its currently held down with gaffa tape,looks awful,specially on a white car! not to mention what its doin to my paint.

    I had the same problem until I fitted locks to them from Quiller Triumph. These are quite neat and they also improve security. The only thing is that you have to cut holes in the bonnet. They fit just above the catches and when locked they hold the catches down. They are Â£12.95 for the pair, use the address below to see them.

I had this problem last year. Strangely oiling the catch mechanism cured it (the pivot and springs were very dry). Sounds bizarre but it did the trick...
