Has anybody successfully fitted speakers into the cubbyholes in the foot wells of their spitty? If so what is the best approach to it?
Mount a board across the gap and then a speaker into the board?
If so how much space is there? and how big a speaker can fit into the gap?
Appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Jules

By 'cubby holes' I take it you mean the recess on the outer edge of the footwell behind the door pillar. I have put (but only just) 9*6 inch speakers
in here. I made a wooden blocking panel to make the recess flat with the door piller and bottom of the floor, covered this in carpet and the screwed it
to the floor and the bulkhead. Took a long time to get a good fit - messing about with cardboard templates and test fitting for ages but works really
well. I also put two 4in speakers in the drivers and passenger glove box by making a 'false back' for them in a similar way. I have some fotos
somewhere if you are interested.

Thanks Stephen,
I would like to see any photos you have of the speakers and their mounts.
how did you attach the blocking pannel to the bulk head? screwed into a drilled hole in the metal or drill and bolt through. how easy was it to fit
the speaker on the drivers side?
Please send any photos you have to: jules@tipler.net
thanks,
Jules

Imanaged to get a pair of 6" MB quart component bass units in my GT6 (same tin work here) I used mdf panels cut to shape and held in with grip
fill (looks like panel sealant when painted). don't forget to put a closing panel on the top of the box formed. On the drivers side the
accelerator had to be tweaked towards the centreline of the car to clear the mesh. I positioned the speakers as high and far back(in the well)
as possible to clear my right foot when driving. The tweeters were placed in the glove boxes out of site but with decent sound path to the
ears.
Many cardboard cut outs are the way the develop the required panel shapes.
Hope this helps
