Was looking on ebay, there is a nice green mk1 spit.
he has used a late type (1500) fuel tank.
what would be the benifits of this tank over the early type????
Thanks

That's me selling it ( I don't really want to but I have other race plans and am also thinking of moving house soon). The 1500 has a top pickup rather
than a pickup at the bottom. If any part of the pipe fails the weight of the fuel pushes the fuel out through the fracture emtying the tank very
quickly. It also means that at times the weight of the fuel is pushing onto the fuel pump especially if you park facing down hill. All modern (since
about 1970) have to have top mounted fuel pickups as per the MkIV and 1500 spitfire.

A 1500 tank also holds a bit more fuel I think.
Cheers
