Can't get my Aldon Ignitor working

Posted By : Peter Lee, 05-Nov-2006, 12:52pm

Hi all,

Can anyone help me get my Ignitor going again?

My Spit 1500 has been off the road for a year for some remedial work. This has included rebuilding a spare engine with some mild tuning. I refitted my Ignitor, which I have used without problem for the past few years, but now I cannot get the car to start. Swaping back to points has allowed me to run the engine for now and get an MOT, but I would like to refit the Ignitor.

I have followed the fitting instructions, set the crank to TDC, aligned the marks on the Ignitor as instructed, fed a new 12V supply to it, but it refuses to start. I suspect it is a timing issue as altering the start point does seem to improve things slighly (the engine sounds like it will almost fire, but not quite!).

Anyone any ideas?
