Hi, I'd appreciate some advice from all you Spitfire "Yoda's" please...
I was having some starting problems on my 1500 spit, needed to charge battery all the time, or jump start etc.... I was advised to get an electronic
ignition to help with starting, so I purchased an aldon ignition from club shop.
While I was waiting for my part to arrive I also purchased a new battery, which has obviously helped with the starting, but once running the engine sounds
great and runs really well.
My dilema is if I fit the aldon ignition do I have to alter the timing? I understand it is very easy to fit, but the Engine sounds so good at the moment I
am reluctant to mess with the timing to fit the ignition.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks

Debbie,
Fitting electronic ignition should be a simple job, but will probably require the timing to be set again, as you cannot be certain that the timing will
not be moved when you fit the module in place of the points.
The actual timing value does not change, so you just need a timing light to measure where it is now, and once the module is installed, reset the timing
to the same value.
