1500 spitfire distributer drive

can any one tell me how tight the drive for the distributer should be when it is in place should there be much sideways movement just to clarify i refer to the drive below the dis the part that meshes with the cam a nd drives the oil pump

Hi Paul,
These drives are usually quite slack as you have to have some backlash in the drive gears on the dizy drive and the camshaft or they would wear away in no time. You can usually see the wear on the oil pump drive as i suppose the wear would show on the drive gears.
