Hi, has anyone else had to fit a new water pump to a 1500? If so could you please tell me how to remove and refit the viscous coupling. The manual says
'Press the viscous coupling from the water pump pulley' but I have been trying various and sometimes 'violent' methods for over a week and I can't get the
bl**dy thing to budge, any help, as usual, would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.
Russell Barr.

Have you tried something like a 3 pronged hub puller? They're not too expensive even halfords sell them. You could also try warming the whole thing in
the oven first, the aluminium viscous coupling will expand more than the steel shaft.

Thankyou Charles, at last something to go on! I'll give it a try, and I will let you know how I get on.
Thanks again

Well Charles, It worked! I put the water pump in the oven for an hour ( alongside the beef and roast potatoes) and when I took it out with the
oven gloves, the coupling practically 'fell off'. Thankyou again for your help, why didn't I think of warming it up?
P.S. The beef and potatoes were none the worse for their ordeal
