Full Width Ally Radiator

I have just fitted a full width aluminium radiator and twin electric fans one of which works through a manually operated illuminating switch in the cockpit the other by an electric fan controller in the top hose. The radiator and fans are from a Peugeot 205GTi, the fans came as an assembly within a housing which has taken some simple modifications to fit to the spitfire. The only time the fan has come on is when queing in heavy traffic. This is a fairly straight forward job and works really well.

    I use one off a Golf GTI, they're only about &163;40-45 new, sensor fits into radiator, get the fan and the fan cowl second hand, use a Dolomite expansion tank.

      And I've got one off a Renault5, same size as the original small rad but a million times more efficient, lighter and shinier. &163;50 brand spanking new and easy to fit with a couple of Halfords flexi hoses.

        uh.. I'm very glad you posted a photo along with the comment, otherwise I would have been thinking "oh thats easy then!"
        So.. you also added an EWP and some custom plate for the front of the head and rest right?! I wonder if this rad would fit under the bonnet with a 6 installed?
        
        Any chance you others could post pics of yours?

        You're absolutly right, I do have a few other mods as well as theRenault5 rad but there is no reason why it should not work with a standard setup too. Though I would recommend to anyone tilting the rad forwards to better catch airflow and give room for a fan on the back face.
        
        As for on a 6 cylinder, it is not narrow enough to fit between the chassis rails though the tilting may help on the height restrictions.
