This is a bit of a 'place your votes' posting.
I've had my car back from the garage, resplendent with new hood, for just under a year. About six weeks ago I noticed that the driver's side rear triangle
window had split about three inches along the welding in the bottom left hand corner (as you look at it from the back of the car).
I have duly phoned the supplier and explained the situation, he told me that as the hood was purchased over a year ago (which is true, it just wasn't
fitted immediately) they can't just send me out a new one. He also asked how I put the hood down and told me the correct way to do it involves unpopping
it, wrapping it in a towel and then tucking the ends in and if I haven't been doing that then I've been doing it wrong. I only intermittently unpop
admittedly but I've also not had the car out that often anyway. So given that I've been doing it wrong the manufacturer won't accept responsibility.
So my question is this. Do I:
A. just put up and shut up and make sure I unpop in the future
B. stick to my guns and demand a replacement because this just isn't 'reasonable wear and tear'
And if I do have to get a new hood, is it best to go for stitched windows rather than welded?

The hood goes down much easier if done right!!!
I would have a go at sticking to my guns initially, if nothing else you could demand a new window be welded in.
My welded windows have failed after about 6 years of intermittant use, and I always fold right so to speak, so I will be looking for stitched windows
next time.

Wrapping it in a towel? Where did he get that from? Methinks he's talking through his rubber doughnut. If this was the case eBay would be full of
genuine NOS Triumph hood towels. If the hood doesn't perform as intended then it's defective, unless it originally came with a towel and a full set
of instructions as to how to use it which you didn't adhere to.
Go back and complain, in which case he'll probably give you a towel to wipe the seats when the rain comes in through the split window seam..
By the way - what exactly IS that lying in your Spit? I'm still trying to work out if it's inflatable...

I'm trying to figure out how and what part you would wrap in a towel... and why for that matter!
That's a task for when I get home from the pub
Maybe a prize next year at Stafford for the most ingenious hood/towel combination

Hi Ian,
I wouldn't worry about the towel at the moment!!!!
More concerned about your UJS!!!!!!!
After all they they didn't even make it to Stafford!!!
Or perhaps you could wrap the towel round them instead!!!!
Tongue in cheek!!!

you lay the towel over the back window before you fold the two 'wings' that contain teh read quarter windows over it. Stops the rear window
getting scratched. Thought everybody did it.

Methinks it's time to have a girly tantrum (in a cool and controlled kind of a way) and get a new hood delivered - afterall, they don't come
with instructions...
Unlike my inflatable sister...
(who would be mortified if she read this!)
