The right way to go topless...

This is a bit of a 'place your votes' posting.

I've had my car back from the garage, resplendent with new hood, for just under a year. About six weeks ago I noticed that the driver's side rear triangle window had split about three inches along the welding in the bottom left hand corner (as you look at it from the back of the car).

I have duly phoned the supplier and explained the situation, he told me that as the hood was purchased over a year ago (which is true, it just wasn't fitted immediately) they can't just send me out a new one. He also asked how I put the hood down and told me the correct way to do it involves unpopping it, wrapping it in a towel and then tucking the ends in and if I haven't been doing that then I've been doing it wrong. I only intermittently unpop admittedly but I've also not had the car out that often anyway. So given that I've been doing it wrong the manufacturer won't accept responsibility.

So my question is this. Do I:

A. just put up and shut up and make sure I unpop in the future

B. stick to my guns and demand a replacement because this just isn't 'reasonable wear and tear'

And if I do have to get a new hood, is it best to go for stitched windows rather than welded?
