Hello and welcome to the club...and driving a great car
I isn't perfectly smooth, some people dip the clutch slightly to reduce it, but that isn't necessary.
Does it also jolt when you change gear, if it does it could be something else. Check your engine and gearbox mounts and the half shaft and prop shaft
UJ's if your really worried.
My best advise is get your self down to the local club meet and show them what it does.

Hi Stuart, welcome to the TSSC and to the Notts area of the club.
Many of your local area members have Spitfires, why not try joining us at Ye Olde Bridge Inn, Oxton on the last Monday of every month. You will
find that most of your questions will be answered and have a great evening out at the same time.
Our vitesse also jolts slightly each time o/d is clicked out. The jolt is enough sometimes to make the cd player jump.We just get used to it as one
of the little quirks of these vehicles..
Hope to meet you soon
