Not only is the mainshaft a different length, but rearward of the gearbox itself it is completely different. I has different splines and a
locator for the O/d oil pump.
For Mick to make the change the gearbox will have to be completely rebuilt and a new mainshaft sourced. My guess is that this will cost about
as much as a new g/box anyway, so you may simply want to go for the exchange instead. ... &163;225 if you do that and you get the full
exchange value for you existing box.
PS I know there is (was) a large backlog of gearboxes to b ebuilt at canleys this last week as one of them was mine
Hmm, come to think of it I now have a spare mainshaft for an O/d gearbox, but I'd have to sell you it if you want it as it will affect my
exchange value when I take my defective box back (layshaft bearing failure).
Give me a PM if you are interested
