Last week the over drive suddenly stopped working.
Thinking I could hear the solenoid clicking into place , it was time to strip out the interior and allow access to the overdrive.
Removing the carpet to enable the tunnel to be removed I was faced with old card tunnel being stuck into place istead of being screwed!
Having the car a few years I had no neccessity to remove the tunnel previously until now.
The person who I aquired the car from must have thought this was an easy way out. Either he was a Blue Tack salesman or he had raided the kids bedroom and
nicked the blue tac from behind every picture he could find.
There must have been four packs of the stuff holding the tunnel like concrete.
I was trying to compare how they sealed in the Egyptian kings in the pyramids with sealing in my overdrive!.
Then the bad news . It wasnt the solenoid clicking , it was the relay on the bulkhead! A terminal had come off and not allowing power to the overdrive.Re
attached the terminal and the overdrive worked.
So by now I was trying to convince myself that I really wanted to drain the oil, clean the o/drive filters and put a new fibre glass tunnel in any way.
Old cars don't you just love them
Anybody want some second hand blue tac................Binman?
