Just noticed the silver centre finishers on your wheels. I've just ended up with a set of these cast in alloy. I've owned pleny of the plastic ones in
both black and chrome finishes, but I was completely unaware of an alloy version.
There's no Stanpart or BL marking on these, so I was wondering if they were aftermarket, or maybe from another manufacturer using similar
wheels/PCD.
Any info appreciated. They'll probably end up on ebay, but always nice to know the story behind them,
Cheers,
Bill.

Bill,
My understanding is that all GT6 MKIII's had the alloy version. The part number is 716181 in my Triumph parts catalogue for the GT6 whereas the
Spitfire part number is YKC1335 for the plastic silver version and 716180 for the black version.
Hope this helps, I don't expect you are very likely to find any new stock of the alloy version though.
Cheers....

Thanks Andy,
That clears things up. My total ownership of a GT6 Mk3 lasted only 2 hours, not really enough time to get to know a car that well! The trims
arrived attached to a Herald fitted with Dolomite wheels, so no clues there...
Cheers,
Bill.

The alloy ones are deemed very desirable (don't know why as they are a pig to polish up if pitted.) so should make you a good few quid on
Ebay.
Cheers

Got them listed last night (plug, plug).
Amazing how after having 70+ Triumphs I'd never seen any of these before. The shinier examples look very smart, but I really didn't
fancy having a go at the pitted ones,

Bill.

Following up from Bills comments I went and checked my GT6 wheel covers and yes, they are 'alloy'. I took them to a local metal
polisher to see of anything could be done about the pitting. No way! Apparently they are die -cast and the crappy metal used
(elektron? or some such name) has a tendancy to develop deep pits and that rubbing them back will just reveal even more!! If I
stick with my original Dunlop wheels I will probably get some Spitfire plastic covers. Mind you, a set of minilite replica wheels
look mighty nice on a GT6.
