I have just sent my 1500 spit for crypton tuning after purchase just to see if everything was ok.
The garage informs me that the rear carb is not creating the vacuum to operate the diaphragm at the distributor, they feel that the pilot hole may be
blocked, I have spoken to Andrew Turner and he thinks this is unlikely.
Strangely the car has good acceleration and runs sweet even when cruising - when you would expect that the mixture was a little lean.
it appears from reciepts that the previous owner purchased new needles etc and overhaul kit from rimmer bros in december, could he have bloked the hole
inadvertantly as he sems to have used liquid gasket or has he done something wrong on re-assembly
any advice or help please.

I can only suggest that you gently probe the hole with a cocktail stick, or a small screwdriver to see if the passageway is blocked. (You could also
disconnect the pipe and suck on the end to see if the vacuum davance responds. This will check if the pipe is blocked, or even the vacuum advance
seized, or has a split diaphragm).

I had to put a 1mm drill down mine as it was coked up.

Chris, Mike, thanks for that. I have checked that the diaphragm works by sucking on the pipe as you say, and all is well, I have tried the
gentle poking route as well without success. It seems that the drill may be the answer.

The drill worked, quick 2 min job and noticed a difference immediately.
