Hello all, I'm currently rebuilding my HS4 carbs off my 1980 1500.
At the mo they are fitted with the waxstat jets that alter the mixture with temperature change. They are a bit worn so I'm going to replace them, but I'm
thinking of changing them to the non-waxstat type. Has anyone else done this and is it worthwile?

No personal experience, but most people think this is WELL worth doing on a 1500. While you can argue "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and that if you
have not had poor tickover, hot starting problems etc then leave them there, if you are going to the trouble of replacing the jets then plain ones seem
to be preferred.

You will find almost universal support for conversion to avoid hot weather tickover problems.
You can get a conversion kit from Canley's, Rimmer's etc. or there is a 2p conversion from I beleive it's Colin Lindsay, sorry I don't have a link
but I have done it and it is not difficult.

Thanks for the advice. I've got to replace them because they are worn, so I'll follow your advice and use the non-waxstat type. "The less to go
wrong the better" !!
Got a price of £43.50 +vat from my local triumph parts dealer TD Fitchett. Better get cracking - don't want to miss the stafford
show.
Cheers Dave.
