Weber carb: effect on timing/points gaps

Posted By : Ian Knott, 07-Mar-2005, 01:36pm

Hi,
I have a MKiv with a single weber equiped Mkiii engine. Currently, the timing and points gaps are set to the figures in the Haynes manual (if i'm reading it correctly)for a standard engine i.e 6 Deg BTDC and 0.015". With this set up the engine runs better that it has done for a while (ie it runs!!) but I have no idea whether I need to have any different settings for the weber. I need to change something as under hard acceleration I am getting an intermitent "spitting back" through the carb.

Any suggestions on adjusted settings or ideas where I can get the information from?

Thanks

Ian
