Grose ball valve jets

Posted By : Lindsay Dearing, 17-Jul-2003, 11:10pm

Having driven the 300 odd miles back to Devon from Stafford to the unmistakable whiff of petrol everytime I pulled away or went up through the gears, I have to wonder if I fell for the hype when I fitted Grose ball valve jets to my float chambers. What is the collective experience (if any) with these American devices. Or should I be looking elsewhere for the reason that petrol is coming out of my overflow pipes. It was very hot (30C) when I drove back...could that have a bearing? I have driven 2000 miles on these jets and have not been aware of the problem except for a very slight trace at the pipes. The carbs are balanced and running efficiently, as is the engine. Idle is good and economy fine; CO2 by the book. Suggestions as to the possible cause would be much appreciated. I have SU type valves on standby.
