Can anyone help me out with a u/s starter motor for 1500 Spit please? ( Lucas M35J)
All I need is the nylon terminal insulator poking through the backplate.
Mine is damaged and the terminal has shorted to the motor body.
I fear the repair I made with 2 rubber grommets will not last too long but is fine just now!
I cannot source a new part anywhere.
The motor itself is fine and has only done 5K miles so no need for a recon unit at all.
I do not need the whole motor, an old backplate would do as it is easier to post, or kust the nylon widget....?
Anyone.....please....?

What are the dimensions of the widget? Something else might do the job, either car related or from Maplin/RS.

I have an old starter from my MKIV siting in the garage, I'm sure it is the same as yours. If you can contact me with your e-mail address, so I can
arrange where to post it, I will remove it over the weekend and post it to you on Monday.
Is this any help?
regards
David

A big apology is in order to David. I am sorry I did not reply to your kind offer.
I actually found the correct part from a reconditioner in Bradford on the internet and he sent me a couple.
My grommet repair is holding up though, so will not use the nylon bits until necessary.
I have been away a lot working since so it escaped my mind that I had put out that plea for help.
Sorry and Tahnks anyway.
