Hi Matthew !
I had dodgy r/h indicators on my spitfire (would stick on completely) so I;
1) replaced the indicator relay flasher unit (halfords £5)
2) took off the front indicators lens assembly inc light fitting & found loads of surface rust etc, cleaned with small wire brush & wd 40 &
checked the wiring back to the loom on the front chassis member in front of the radiator - splenty of WD40 !
3) did the same on the rear light assembly for the same side (was Ok but best to check )
After several attempts it works OK again & I swopped back to the old relay unit & found it was OK ! So in my case it was a bad earth between
the light fitting(s) - body/chassis etc that caused the problem. The next thing to check if the above does not work would be the indicator switch
itself on the steering column ?
Best of luck & I hope its either of the above ?
Regards,
Jeremy

Jeremy.. on our Vit6 we added earth conections to earth/ bond the body tubs together and to the chassis, and dedicated earths to the rear lamps and
bonnet/head lamps etc this gained 1.5 volts at the rear end and by adding new feed to relays up front for the headlamps gained 2.5 volts up front
well worth the effort ...peter

It's the earth...it's always the earth. There, I haven't spouted that for some time!
