Help .. .. I have a plug and a thick brown wire that should connect to my alternator but my alternator has three spades neatly side by side instead. It is
a Lucas alternator. What goes where?!
cheers

If you have the proper Lucas plug, it will only fit into the alternator one way!
There should really be 3 wires going into the back of the alternator, but sounds like you only have 2. It'll still work! There are two "big" terminals
(next to each other) and a smaller terminal on the alternator. The big thick wire and big connector goes onto one of the big spades, usually the one at
the top, nearest the centre of the alternator. This takes the charging current. The small wire should have a small terminal and goes onto the small
spade (won't fit a big one) nearest the edge of the alternator and this goes to the ignition warning light.
