Fitting headlights 1500

Hi, I'm in trouble yet again.
I'm trying to fit the headlights to my 1500, the car came with a box of 'headlight bits' and I can work out pretty much what goes where, but how do I secure the headlamp inner bowl to the car? There is nothing to screw the bowl to,
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Russell,

I don't know if this will help you its from a MK iv 1973 parts catalogue. I am guessing that there is little or no difference between the parts making up the headlamp assembly.

      The believed unmolested bonnet on a '75 1500 I picked up was definately pop rivetted.

        On all MK4/1500 Spitfires, and probably earlier Spits and GT6's, the headlamp bowl is pop riveted to the bonnet structure.
        
        With reference to the original figure....
        The headlamp sub bowl (515045) which provides for adjustment is secured to the main bowl using the adjusters (513267) and the spring (513266).
        
        Once all this has been fitted, the headlamp itself is fitted into the sub-bowl, and electrically connected. The headlamp is then secured into the sub bowl using the outer ring (515218) and three screws (507086).
