indicators stop flashing

I have a 1978 spit 1500. my indicators flash reasonably well when the engine is running above 2000rpm but slow down and sometimes stay on (ie do not flash)when at idle speeds. I have fitted a new flasher unit but this made no difference. I have checked the battery and it is giving 12volts ok. Any suggestions?

I would check the earth connections. A poor earth will cause this. I had a similar problem where my right indicator sometimes stayed on. Once I emery clothed the rear light connections & where it connects to the body it cured it.

  Ditto what Paul's said - I had this problem with my left hand indicator - the front would stick on, but the rear wouldn't come on at all. Cleaning up the connector sorted it.
