Hi all. my current set up is a spit 1500 gearbox coupled to a triumph 1300 engine. I am replacing this with a new 1500 o/d gearbox and 1500 engine. Will
the starter fit the ring gear on the 1500 flywheel or do I need a new starter?
Many thanks.

I believe ring gears are the same diameter.
Isn't the cheapest option a 1500 starter motor though (as the 1500 engine should have a 1500 flywheel and ring)...?

Hi Mark, I just needed to know if the 1300 starter will fit the 1500, didn't explain myself very well. As a starter it seems fairly new and the
bendix is not worn. However if I need to change it so be it!
Thanx. Phil.

Ahh, confusing myself.
I think I have remembered it correctly now so...
Yes, the 1300 starter motor should fit.
The difference between 1300 and 1500 flywheels is the bolt diameter (and clutch area).
Looking at a few catalogs, they all list a single starter motor for all Spit. engine sizes.

Sorry to butt in but my answer is yes as I took the starter off my old mk1V 1300 and ploncked it on my 1500.Can't remember if the spacer ring
has to be left out or put in though?
