Wiring loom chassis clips

Hi all

I'm just about to re-fit the wiring loom to my 1500 following a complete rebuild.

Over the years, most of the metal tags on the chassis around the engine bay which are meant to hold the wiring in place have long since been broken off.

The previous owner had solved the problem of holding the loom in place by wrapping black tape around the loom and chassis rail together (YUK!)

Has anyone solved this problem with a more elegant solution?

If your on the rebuild phase I'm guessing you don't really want to do it the 100% authentic way (means a welder and another respray!), so how about these - http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/module.asp?CartID...

They are mild steel strips with a self adhesive backing. Not sure if they are big enough (you try and work out that sizing table!), but look similar to the origonals and you could spray can paint them the correct colour well away from the car!
