Thanks for the Devon link. I did this conversion on my Herald years ago following Carl Heinlein's Courier article, but didnt want to sift thru 21
years of Courier magazines to remind me how to do it.
I have completed the job in two hours on a mk3 spit today. Nuts and bolts bit was easy, Jigsaw Racing provided what was needed, and it was just the
wiring to get right. This was nice and easy, remove control box from heater plenum on bulkhead, and then connect the relevant wires. I didnt even
take off the spade connectors, just pushed them into one another then crimped them with pliers and soldered the connectors together, sealed it all
in good quality insulating tape, taped the earth lead back into the loom to hide it, and then all the taped up connections tuck neatly behind the
coil and horn relay. They are well hidden as the car is dark blue, but a bright coloured car would still be able to hide the wiring quite well. It
could now be converted back if needed, but why when it will be alot more reliable now.
Car should be faster now as it has lost 1/2 kg of control box!
