Can I replace this bit only?? The motor is fine but sometimes doesn't turn the flywheel, I suspect it's worn as it's been sounding a bit crunchy of late but after all my attempts to properly align it's never felt/sounded right. If it's the case that I can separate it does anyone have a spare that I may purchase?

This weekend (just gone) my bendix stopped working at Donington (just before the race). I pulled the started out and found the bendix had seperated. So I pushed it back to gether and use a punch the 'spread' the lugs to stop it happening again. Then back in the car and problem solved.

This was a 20 minute job.

If you're up to buy another starter you should really look at buying new - I think mine cost 25 GBP from Moss, after buying two second hand/recondiditoned ones that kept shorting out.

I took the starter off last night and the teeth were pretty worn away, but with a couple of shims I'm now connecting with an unworn bit. Looks like your're right though and a new starter will be purchased tonight. Cheers
