Hi, I have a hardtop for my MkIV but it never had the correct fixings. I have bought the front bolts and spacers but the spacers appear to be too big. In
the photo they protrude above the top rail by about 6mm. Do I trim them down or have I got the position totally wrong? I am presently using a pair of long
bolts with large nuts for spacers.
Cheers, Steve.

DO NOT trim the mountings - what you have shown a picture of is CORRECT !!!!
You also need the two bolts of the correct length, and a good front seal.
The whole system is designed so that you don't damage the OUTER skin of the roof when tightening the bolts.

Many thanks Kevin, I'm just about to re-fit the roof so a quick reply is much appreciated. I have the correct length bolts so hopefully this will
work nicely.
Cheers, Steve.

hi,
I have seen so many hard tops with dings in the roof from over tightened bolts. Some one recently sugested using studs in the roof and dome
nuts on the inside to neaten it all up. I always struggle to get the holes to line up and the car was rebuilt with the hard top fitted to help
keep it all aligned, so studs protruding seems a good idea to me.
