Has anyone recently had their Spitfire sprayed. I am trying to find out the cost of a respray.
The body is sound, I am just looking for a change of colour. Can anyone give me a rough idea
of how much I am likely to pay? I am looking for a more modern colour possibly metallic blue.
Thanks

Hi Rich, I recently had an estimate of £1200 from a recommended sprayer with his own business and booth. This will include 2 pack paint to
original signal red spec. He will have the car for about a month. All the panels are new or sound but there are many dents and dings to sort. Like most
things you get what you pay for! I will let you know how it goes once I pluck up the courage to go for it!

Similar price - £1300 - quoted on my Vitesse by a professional.

18 months ago I paid £180 to have the outside of the bonnet of my GT6 stripped back to metal and resprayed in two pack. I'd
replaced the wings about 8 years previous and they were still fine, I replaced the headlamp/indicator surround panels just before the respray.
The guy smoothed the joins around these with filler because they weren't a great fit and filled a couple of little dents in the bonnet top.
This was included in the price.
I'd already taken all the locks/trim/lights etc off so there was no masking to do. This can make a big difference to what people want to
charge. The spray guy risks damaging trim when he gets it off, he has to work with stubborn bumper bolts, mask stuff up, risk damaging his new
paint when he puts it all back. And he'd rather be painting something else because that's what he likes doing.
So you might get lower quotes for painting the car if you remove and refit as much as you can yourself.

I paid £1300 about 2 years ago for a 2 pack respray - excellent finish at the time but I can see places where the paint has
sunk.
The price included welding (not parts) new inner and outer sills, B post and rear wing which looked sound until the old paint came off!
