Some wretched toe rag has keyed/scratched my car from the rear wing, across the door and down the bonnet. The respray was only completed in June of last
year.
In places it&8217;s so deep I can see the metal!
I feel like rounding the neighbours up and going on a hunter for the culprit, flaming torches and the works. It&8217;s been a busy week for crime I
got broken into on Monday as well!
Anyway, what to do. My thinking is that the insurance will go up if I make a claim.
So if I clean up the deepest of the scar and refill it just below the surface with filler, then hand paint over the top with 8-10 layers of paint (I have
some left over from the respray.) followed by a sand down with 1500 wet and dry. Then a buff up with polishing compound and a wheel, then Tcut in a week or
so.
Would that work? Or will it look a beggar.
I&8217;ve quite a lot of experience preprepping before a spray job and final polishing but the dark art of scratch removal is not one
I&8217;ve ever done before.
