when fitting a new windscreen, I have conflicting advice about using sealant, is it necessary or not

depends if you want leaks and what type of sealant...

    Jonathan B put my windscreen in for me, no sealant and I haven't fitted the chrome retainer. I've never, I say never, had any water pass the seal.......Never had it in the rain mind, and only sponge bathed it.........but never had any water past the seal.

      I don't use sealant and fnd that a good quality new seal is more than adequate. Once they start to get old the leaks start.
      Interesting point about the chrome retainer; I've been informed very recently on the messageboard that the lack of one is an MOT failure. Had any problems, Vin?
