I am restoring a 1979 Spitfire to its original condition, and am having several problems, the latest one being fitting a new passenger side parcel tray.
There wasn't one in the car when I bought it. I have bought a new tray and support rail but cannot get hold of any brackets, and cannot see where they
would fit anyway. Also there are some loose wires where the tray should fit, where do they go?
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks

Russell, the tray fitting is quite straightforward. The lefthand side of the front rail is attached to the car body by a simple L shaped bracket which
is easily purchased from a DIY store. This is inverted so that the rail sits on top and is bolted through with a 3/16" setscrew. The right hand side of
the front rail attaches in a similar manner to a bracket on the dash just by your dash support casting. Two self tappers fix the rear of the box to the
captive fittings on the two metal brackets on the bulkhead. Any wires should be at the back and top of the box behind the 'flap'. This flap should be
retained to the under-dash metalwork by a small clip, but they are frequently missing. I attach a photo of my now dismantled GT6 parcel tray to give a
general location shot.
