Hi,
I am suddenly aware (thanks to a screwdriver through the floor) that my passengers footwell floor is suddenly not as solid as it was at MOT a couple of
months back...
This sort of panelwork is going to be new to me so what arr my options?? Comparing catalogue shots of replacement part it doesn't look like it is
original/proper floor panel(other welds give that away as well) so do I just cut out bad and put in a steel sheet or is a repair panel for just footwell
available?
If it turns out to be more widespread how major a job is it to replace with complete passanger side floor?
While I am at it next planned job was rear outer wing and outer section of wheel arch. Any top tips/pitfalls??
Finally,,when I come to respray how many litres are needed/advisable to get??
Cheers folks
PS she may be a faded beauty but top down in morning sun on lincolnshire country roads she still makes me smile and is worth the effort!

'Evening Alan.
Some stockists keep the front floorpan pieces, some even turn up on e-bay, more commonly, in my wanderings, are full side floor pieces. I haven't seen
the front sections in the flesh, but they APPEAR to finish under the crossmember, hiding the seam weld (from the top at least!). I guess the main
problem would be if the corrosion is 'round the edges, then, when you remove the grotty bits, you might find the cills and A-post bottoms need patching
too. Can't talk about the rer wing. Haven't needed to be near there ..... yet!!
Best of luck.

Just found the same thing with my MK IV. MOT failure, followed by taking out all the carpets and seats. After I had explored all the rust with a
screwdriver, the bit where the left hand floorpan joins the inner sill now looks like a swiss cheese! Not being a welder, I'll take her along to a
mates shop and see what his captive welder can do with it. Not like the garage that failed her on the MOT - 'Sorry mate, don't do old cars!' 'Dont care
what you do mate, do you want my money or not? No? OK I'll take it to someone who does!' I have GOT to teach myself welding!
How many people here have actually replaced a floor section, or had one done?
