In the 300th edition of the Courier I found an interesting article describing the manufacture of a set of boots to cover the front body mountings on a
Spitfire.
The idea really appealed to me and I have since made and fitted them to my car.
Having recently restored my Spitfire 1500 and unfortunately having had to use it this last winter the results are well worthwhile, preventing the constant
accumulation of everything the tyres throw at them.

I must admit my reason for writing the original article on the rubber boots was to boost the efforts of a couple of Triumph entrepreneurs who had gone
to the trouble of designing these and having a batch made in rubber which they were selling; unfortunately it seems everyone has welcomed the idea but
instead are making their own... it's a pity we can't give our 'backroom inventors' more support in the hope that they'll come up with other similar
innovative ideas, instead of giving up in despair...
