Personally I'd say both.
Having spent many a long evening stripping a chassis back to bare metal a few years back (and crying as each new hole appeared), I found an angle grinder best for flat sections - more comfortable to hold, but a drill better for getting into little nooks and crannies.

You can buy evil looking wire brush attachments to fit angle grinders that last a long time! They will remove several coats of paint and surface rust very quickly. Beware tho' that if you want to remove all the paint from an external panel wire brushes, sanding discs etc, will also remove metal! There are some peculiar pan scouring type discs that do not damage metal, but don't last that long.
Don't forget your eyes and your ears. Get some googles you can comfortably wear with ear defenders on top. It gets noisey and visually challenging under a wheel arch removing 3 decades of paint and underseal with a 1500 watt angle grinder

I concur...
get one of them big wire brush thingies for an angle grinder...
the wire cup type things for drills I've found to be useless,... but wire wheels for drills work well.
If you have a reversible drill... you'll find it makes a difference to run it back to front now and then... the wire gets bent and loses some of its vitality... run it back to front and it sure starts working again.
When I stripped my body tub on my previous spit... the chap before had painted over the air vents in the bulk head...
a wire wheel in a drill cleaned them all out nicely... so they aren't that vicious.
btw... get some really good heavy duty gloves too.
and I thought the scotch pads are for pre-paint preparation rather than paint removal (the brillo things)
I once used a thing called a "skerfing" tool too.
(no idea how you spell it)
like a bendy angle grinder disk.. now that was excellent at going through 7 layers of paint..
(and one layer of metal if you weren't careful with it)

Trust me - get a half descent one that seals quite well against your face.
The colour of things that come out of your nose after a day in the garage with the wire brushes... just can't be good for you!-

All,
Just to emphasise the good safety advice above; gloves, mask but especially eye protection. The wire bristles from an angle grinder cup brush don't just wear down, they fly off at great speed. So fast, they can impale themselves in your skin! Don't think about what this could do to your eye.
MUCH better than goggles, because it doesn't mist up and you can wear glasses and/or a face mask under it, is a visor. Fits over the head like a welding mask and the clear part is semi-disposable, so fit a new one from time to time. If you don't recognise it from my description, pic below.

the origonal make twisted wire wheels for the angle grinder are brilliant and last alot longer than the copies, they are called zip wheels.
not sure where they sell them now i got them from a trade parts factor.

Hiya Jonathon, no I'm waiting till I fetch the screen out to replace it, probably early next week. I will then remove the corrosion, fill, spray ( probably with aerosols for now) and fit new screen with new rubber. Thats the theory anyway Then proper respray and interier during the
winter...thats another theory!
Thanks for the offer. Actually I cannot believe I'm saying this but I seem to have all I need at the moment. No, hang on, need a wiper motor. Mine has one speed and will not self park. If the new switch does not cure it........!!-

Ah yes, red black rust bogies with the consistency of evostik taught me to wear a face mask. Actually cleaning the filter on the air compresser should have told me something!
I do find that wearing goggles, ear defenders and face mask along with a pair of varifocals very irritating. I wonder if those wrap around face shields, like chemists wear, would be better for me? Anyone used one at all?
