I have a Mk3 Spit 1968 and I am wondering if anybody can help me. I want to fit a rear roll gage and still keep the soft top working, I have the cage
allready and when fitted to the car the roof will not go back over the cage. The cage is 67cm high from the raised part of the rear floor. The cage is not
the aero type its just the standard one with no padding to get in the way. I'm sure there must be a way to make it work, any ideas would be great thanks.

Simon,
The Mk3 spitfire has a special roll cage which hinges down to allow the soft top to be retained. These are not suitable for racing but for road use
there is no problem. As you say, the 'standard' roll cage fouls the soft top and can only be used with a hard top (or topless).

Thanks for that info thats a great help. One more question can you tell me where abouts the cage is hinged so I can get mine modified as it is only
going to be used for road and show use. Thanks again si.

AFAIK - the cage is hinged at the very bottom of the main rear hoop rather than being bolted/welded into the rear deck. This allows the whole
cage to swing forward to allow the roof to go up/down. The rear diagonal is also detatchable.
We don't actually deal with these very much as they aren't FIA approved.
If I find a pic I'll post it for you.
