Hi There
When I got my Spitfire, it had badly fitted door skins and ugly non-standard wing mirrors.
It now has well-fitted door skins and those nice people at Canley Classics have sold me some appropriate wing mirrors.
So now all I have to do is drill some holes in my nice new door skins and fit the mirrors.
Has anyone got a 1500 with the original factory-fitted wing mirrors who could measure their doors and tell me:
1) the distance from the top of the door to the top of the mirror
2) the distance from the front of the door to the front of the mirror
I know there has been a similar question posted and answered on the GT6 forum already, but I am not convinced that the positioning is the same on a
Spitfire and GT6 due to the 1/4 light frame restricting visibility of the mirror on the GT6.
p.s. I would also like to know the locations of the tonneau poppers on the door skins.
thanks in advance
Paul

Hi Paul
My MKIV came with a factory fitted tonneau cover and dealer fit wing mirrors. I can't get any measurements for you as I don't have the car here at uni
with me, but below is a picture of the car, you can just about make out the poppers on top of the door, and see where the mirrors were fitted. I dont
think there would have been a specific place to mount the mirrors, as I think the majority were fitted by the dealers anyway.

Paul,
The hole positions for a factory fitted door mirror are 167mm back from front door edge and 80mm down from door top. This will give you the first hole
position, your plastic mount will then give you the second rearward hole position, but needs to be in-line obviously. It is a good idea to mount one on
the passenger door as well.
Your tonneau cover will dictate where the door poppers need to be mounted to ensure a good fit. Make sure that you fit plastic to plastic or metal to
metal poppers as they do not mix!
