Probably not. Take a look at the mirrors fitted to George Stephenson's Spitfire (below).
These mirrors are available new from the TSSC at -

Some Spitfires have chrome (or maybe stainless) mirrors, while others have matt black. Why the difference, I don't know, but maybe someone here does...?

According to the moss catalogue (or maybe Rimmers, cant remember) you could originally choose between black and chrome mirrors when buying a new car. Later, they all just came with black ones anyway.

there were many 'dealer approved' options of mirror's fitted to spitfires; including bullet ones. so they may well have come with the car...i'll try to
find out a little more and let you know tomorrow...
