Can anyone offer any advice on removing old paint.
I need to strip my old Spitfire down to bare metal, so that I can give her a decent respray. I've been told chemical strippers can scar the metal and
mechanical ones are very slow.
Does any one know any alternatives?

This is a common problem, but do yourself a big favour, save time and a heap of energy and have it sandblasted! The time you save alone will more than
offset the cost and leave you with that time to do the more important things such as welding. The only problem is finding a reputable company to do it!

What's the going rate for getting a body shell blasted?

I don't know if it's typical, since I only got the one quote. I was quoted £500for the bodytub, bonnet, doors and boot. It did
come with a no-distortion guarantee, whatever that may mean...
