Can anyone offer advice on how to set up the front engin suspension turrets on a 1500 or MK4. The book mentions shimming the turret but does not mention
what I am trying to achieve!. I got the car in a stipped down state and have some shims but so not know where they go. I have just been to the spares box I
had to discover one of the shims is missing - doers anyone have a spare one I could buy or can they point me in the direction where to get one?

The shims go between the turret & the top face of the chassis rail where the vertical bolts go. The original workshop manual has a diagram showing
dimensions. Dim 47 should be 33cm, dim 48 should be 15cm. Tricky to measure, I think the important thing is to try & get them the same each side,
then when you have it all built up go to a four wheel alignment place & shim the wishbones to get the geometry right.

I've pulled apart 2 x1500 chassis and they both had a single shim in this position, on each side. A good place to start maybe?
