Front Ride Height

after 5year rebuild on mk3 spit, the front suspension looks like a 4x4, wheel rim to wheel arch is 8inches, the front schock absorbers were bought new but cheap ie no recognisable name on them, i think this could be the problem or maybe the springs

  thanks for the above, looks like i have the wrong shocks on, just wondered apart from springs and shocks what else could affect ride height?

    Make sure you don't have mk4 springs on teh front.
    
    I did that once.....
