Whilst dismantling the rear suspension to fit Polybushes, I had to disconnect the rear brake hoses, one of which snapped as the locknut was completely
siezed. No problem I thought, just go and get some new ones. Having tried three of my trusty suppliers locally, all three produced rear hoses shorter than
the one on my car (1976 1500) despite ensuring me they are the ones that fit the Spitfire with the wider track. In the end I went for braided hoses as
these were the longest I could get although still an inch shorter than the ones on the car. So that is what I have fitted - see photo - but in my mind I
don't like the way it stretches when the suspension is at its fullest extent.
The fixing brackets are all original on the chassis and brake backplate - am I worrying too much or should I persevere further to find longer hoses?
I also have yet to fit the driveshaft and suspension on the other side, so wonder whether there is some extra flex on the spring with only one side fitted
