&8226; The Story:
Taken purchase of a 1500 and am in the process of getting it ready for MOT. I was adjusting the handbrake cable that the previous owner had tightened using
the handbrake lever point adjuster to its maximum when he should have been adjusting it at the business end. I've now loosened it off from the lever so
that the relay is set approximately right (15&176; rearward of perpendicular with handbrake off).
I was adjusting the fork end attachment gadgets on the ends of the compensator to drum cable, which had all seized up royally. I drenched them with
penetrating oil and they all eventually came undone with a bit of BFI&8230; except the last one. I thought 'It's going!' but I'd actually sheared
the stud bolt right off. Bugger. Don't know my own strength&8230;
It was very difficult to remove the cable so I cut it and just pulled it all through. I have now received a new cable.
&8226; The problem:
Is it possible to fit a new cable without having to undo the universal joints/yokes in order to get the the half-shafts out of the way out of the way? I'm
worried I'm going to graunch up the threads on the new cable while I'm trying to jam it through the appropriate eyelets. If not, it's going to be another
hefty sploshing of penetrating oil on the UJs. Tits. Any tips? Bit of butter?
Cheers big ears.
