Beefing up the rear axle

Posted By : Stuart Waters, 27-Apr-2004, 03:24pm

Hi, I'm installing a Rover V8 into my MKIII Spit and need some info from you guys in the know about what combination of parts I can use to put together a rear axle that will handle the torque without having to hack the chassis about.
I've looked at the figures, and the engine will develop about 150 bhp with 200lb/ft torque. The Triumph 2.5PI develops the same bhp but only about 150 lb/ft torque. Everyone seems to stick with GT6 parts for this, but will they take the extra torque without the need to change the diff and driveshafts every 5 minutes?
Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Stuart
