Hello there,
I am plannning to replace the rear driveshaft/uj/hub assembly on my 1977 1500 for something that sounds a bit less like war breaking out. However, I have
it on good authority (Chic Doig) that my car is a 'bitsa' as it has a mkIV chassis, therefore I'm not sure whether my car wears the wide or narrow
driveshafts, I know the the wide shafts are 1 inch longer on each side, but despite scouring my manuals and parts catalogues, I cannot seems to find any
actual measurements to compare against my car.
Does anyone know the lenght or one or either of the different types, as I'm keen to avoid the familiar wrong-parts-ordered fiasco!
Thanks

Hi Grant,
In 1973, even the MKIV went over to long halfshafts, so yours may be one of those anyway. You can easily tell the difference between a MkIV chassis and
a 1500 - the 1500 has a cut out section to allow clearance for the exhaust down pipe.
The lengths you are looking for are in the attached pic. AFAIK they are pretty much interchangeable though.

Thanks Nigel,
I'm pretty sure I have the longer driveshafts, judging by the look of the car, but it never hurts to check!
Thanks again.
