I have the dreaded rear end vibrations and from what I read it is probably wheel bearings.
My Mk. 2 is entirely original and in need of a rear end rebuild so my question is this.
I would like to get an entire rear end ( suspension driveshafts and diff assembly) from a Mk. 3, recondition it off the car and then replace my current set
up in one go.
Is it worth it and will it fit? Has anyone done this?
Are there any mods/ better parts I should use?
Or am I bonkers/just wasting my money?
Thanks in advance

Nick,
I would consider a swing spring conversion from an early MkIV Spitfire (the model with short half shafts). From what I remember, the rear ends between
the MkI/II/III Spitfires are all the same, so there's nothing to be gained from fitting MkIII bits.
I've done the conversion to my MkI Spitfire, and thoroughly recommend it. For the purists, the modification is easily reversed.

Thanks Craig,
Does the Mk.4 diff and carrier fit straight in? I have read somewhere that the later diffs are stronger.
Is everything else an obvious fit or is there anything to watch out for?
