hi, can anyone help me ? my mk 3 spitfire has started making
a 'clonking' noise from the reconditioned gearbox. there
seems to be a lot of movement , back and forwards from
the final drive flange from the gearbox, that connects
to the propshaft flange. any ideas as to what maybe
causing this, and how to fix it would be brilliant.

ian, the output flange of the gearbox shoudn't move back and forth, something is amiss there, although I wouldn't want to predict what from this
distance.
sounds like whatever you can't drive it, but need to remeove the gbox for further inspection and further replacement after conversations with the
supplier.

Unless the flange nut is loose, the box needs to come out for inspection, and possible return to the supplier.
